Back to normal

Well, after that sweet exchange that I blogged about on Friday, here was the exchange at nap time yesterday:

"Night, Evan."
"Night, Asher. Love you, stinky pants."
"Love you, too, stinky bum."

They're back to normal, I see.

In a house full of boys...

If someone were to pass by our house on any given day, they might get a bit of a laugh at the words they hear drifting through the windows. Sometimes I have to stop and shake my head and wonder if I ever would have thought I'd be saying some of the things I do. Most of these words of wisdom are entirely due to the fact that I live in a house full of boys.

So, here are some of the very boy-ish things that have been spoken in our house in the past few months... some of them straight form my own mouth and others that I've overheard:

"Stop shooting lasers at your brother!"


"Mom, how do you spell 'truck'? (I spell it.) How do you spell 'car'? (I spell that, too.) How do you spell 'Voltron, defender of the universe'?"


"Get your head out of the toilet!"


"Dude, you're almost good at playing basketball!" (Evan said this to Asher)


"Let's fight, Evan!"
"My name is 'Fighter', remember?"
"Let's fight, Fighter!"


"My super powers made me do it."


Evan, after passing gas: "Did you hear those barking spiders?"
(This one he gets from his father, who got it from his father, so I guess it's good we're passing on the fatherly wisdom here.)


The favorite thing I've overheard, though, is this exchange between my boys at naptime today:

"Goodnight, Evan."
"Goodnight, Asher. [pause] I love you, Asher."
"I love you too, Evan."

Just about melts my heart.... and makes all the boy-ish stuff bearable. :)

New house, packing, and the last time we were packing.

So, as I mentioned in my previous post, we're moving to a house at the end of the month! Yay! We'll just be renting it, but we're super excited to be done with apartment life and live in a real, actual house! The house we found is adorable and I'm so in love with it (pictures to come soon!).

Needless to say, I'm in the middle of trying to get everything packed up. As I've been packing, I've been thinking about the last time we moved, almost a year ago. So much has changed since then!

For one thing, we were pretty much already packed. Most of our stuff was in a storage shed while we lived with Ben's parents.

Asher was just a baby,


and my big boy wasn't so big, either.


I was a blond.


My handsome hubby was working hard to get his practice going.


We've really loved this apartment that we moved to almost a year ago, but we're super excited about this move! Anyway....enough reminiscing from me... I have to get back to packing! :)

Magnets!

So, I've been feeling incredibly crafty lately and have been loving crafty blogs like Mod Podge Rocks, which will make you want to mod podge everything you own (Ok, not really, but close!) and Make It and Love It. I can't wait until we move into our new house at the end of the month so that I can do all kinds of fun decorating! (Oh yeah.... by the way.... we're moving into a house at the end of the month. I don't think I've posted about that yet!)

So, when it came time to decide what to give my mom for her birthday, it was only natural that it be something crafty! I made her these cute magnets, using chipboard, scrapbooking paper and embellishments, and mod podge (of course).



I'm quite proud of them and I think I'm going to have to make myself some. To go with my new house. :)

CTR

Because it's the new year, Evan has moved up in primary and is no longer a sunbeam. He got his CTR ring this week. I can't believe my little boy isn't even a sunbeam anymore! He was super excited about his CTR ring and couldn't wait to tell me what it stood for (Choose The Right).

Winter Walk

I decided that the boys and I needed to get out of the house this morning. We've been cooped up in here too long! So we bundled up and went for a walk. It was COLD and we only walked for 15 or 20 minutes, but it was just what we needed.

Interviews

I "interviewed" the boys today to see what they would say their favorite things were. I've been wanting to do scrapbook pages about their favorites at this point in time and thought it would be fun to ask them instead of put what I thought. I'm glad I did because some of their answers took me by surprise!

Visit with the fam.

Since we couldn't go to Rexburg the weekend after Christmas, we went this past weekend instead. We had a lot of fun with my family on Saturday. We all got together for lunch and then my parents treated us to laser tag (TONS of fun!) and mini golf. After that, we went home and exchanged Christmas presents.

Evan got this kit to build a space ship, which is perfect for him. He loves to build and paint these things!


Ben gave Sam a beta fish:


Ben got a "Splatblaster" gun (sort of like a paintball gun) from my little sister:


I got an awesome Mary Kay skin care set from Angela. There are no pictures because I was the one holding the camera :).

I made my mom an apron and matching towel:


I took this picture shortly after finishing the apron... I couldn't help but try it on and have a little fun with it. :)


One of the best parts about the weekend was meeting my adorable new nephew, Jaxon Reid! He was exactly a month old on Saturday.

New big sister, Kylee:


After dinner, all the siblings (and siblings-in-law) went to see Avatar, which we really enjoyed, while my Mom and Dad watched all the grand kids. They were brave to do it, but they survived! :)

We stayed the night and went home after church on Sunday. I was glad we were healthy and the weather was good so that we could finally make the trip because we had a great time!

Goodbye 2009

What an exciting, scary, wonderful year it's been! I can't believe how much has happened this year!

We started 2009 fresh out of grad school, living with Ben's parents, not knowing where we were going to set up our practice. Our plans for Hawaii had fallen through only weeks before and so we had no idea where life was going to take us.

One year later, we have a successful chiropractic practice that, after only being open for 8 months, makes enough money to cover it's costs (including our paycheck) with a bit left over. Ben will probably be embarrassed that I said that, but I can't help but mention it because I'm so proud of all the hard work he's done this year. He's been ambitious, confident, hard working and just plain amazing.

This year has also blessed us with our health, the opportunity to get closer to our extended family, the start of my photography business, good Logan friends, Evan starting preschool, Asher being potty trained, Ben's new fish tank hobby, my calling in the Young Women's program, Evan learning to tie his shoes and ride his bike without training wheels, Asher learning his ABC's and how to count to 13... and much, much more.

We have been SO blessed this year. I'm so grateful for a Heavenly Father who loves us, guides us, and answers our prayers. We are looking forward to another great year in 2010!


And of course I have pictures from New Year's Eve. :) We went down to Layton to spend the evening with friends. We played games, ate junk food, and had a great time.

Evan was so funny rocking out on the guitar. He got totally into it, dancing around and acting like a rock star. I wish I had gotten a better picture, but I was too slow.
