Laumeier Sculpture Park

For play group today, we went to Laumeier Sculpture park. It was pretty neat to see all the funky sculptures. The kids enjoyed running all over the place while the moms sat on a bench in the shade to chat.

This big eyeball was a favorite with the kids:
59/365- Giant Eyeball!!

These were some of the other sculptures:
Wandering around

Funky Bird Houses

Teeny Boys

It was a fun morning, but I'm glad we went early, because it got HOT! Evan was DRIPPING with sweat by the time we were done!

Mamma Mia!

I went to see Mamma Mia! with some friends last night. It's a REALLY fun flick (if you like musicals)!! We had a great time. The movie is 10 times better if you already know all the songs! Of course, then you have to sit there the whole time trying not to sing. :)

Food Stealer

Asher is such a good little eater. He will eat pretty much anything. And he eats LOTS! Evan, however, takes after his dad and is a very picky eater. In fact, if we are trying to get him to eat anything new, he has to sniff it first. Funny kid!

Lately, whenever Evan gets down from the table after eating a meal, Asher will climb up in his chair and finish off whatever Evan left behind!

Babaloo

Babaloo, a guy who sings silly children's songs, performed at our mall this morning. At the last minute, I decided to take the kids over to see him. I'm so glad I did. Evan LOVED it! He laughed his head off and danced the whole time. It's so fun that he's getting old enough to enjoy these kinds of things.

Pool Party!

On Tuesday, we had some pool fun! Every year, our Relief Society president (well, not anymore as of last week!) hosts a Logan Swim Party at her house for the Logan wives and kiddos. This year, we had a big storm the night before and Logan lost power, so the guys were able to come, too! It was loads of fun. I didn't take my camera because it was raining when we left and I was worried about it getting wet, but our friend, Alanna, was nice enough to snap some pictures of our family for us. It ended up clearing up and being a great afternoon for swimming.

Evan is our little fish. He just LOVES the water, and he has no fear. He enjoyed going down the slide and jumping off the diving board all by himself!

Asher wasn't quite so sure about the slide, as you can see on his face in this picture. He eventually decided it was fun, though, and would laugh at the end.

Of course, the guys eventually started getting creative about how they went down the slide. They all ended up looking something like this at the end, though:

But, Ben did have his graceful moments, too:

Evan played hard and never quit, but Asher enjoyed being snuggled most of the time:

(It looks like he has a bloody nose, but really that's rug burn from when he took a tumble at church.)

The Muny!

I went out with some girlfriends to see a show at The Muny last night. It was really fun! The Muny is an outdoor theater where they perform shows (mostly Broadway shows). This week is the 90th anniversary of The Muny, so they did a show made up of snippets from their most popular productions, starting with old operettas from the early 1900's, up through all the favorites (Show Boat, West Side Story, Hello Dolly, etc.). It was a great show, and fun to get out with the girls!

Lisa's son Maxwell was actually in the show!

Vlassis Park

Yesterday, we went to Vlassis Park to play and have a picnic lunch. They recently added water fun to this park and Evan thoroughly enjoyed it! Asher preferred to watch, though

Park 3

The merry-go-round was a favorite. You can see that Evan worked very hard to push the other kids!

It was fun, but it was soooo hot! We were glad to get home and break out the little wading pool for Evan while Asher took a much needed nap!

Smart little guy!

I walked into the kitchen this afternoon to find Asher doing this:

Our Walker

I finally found the cord to the "old"camera so that I could upload the video of Asher walking. This was taken about a week and a half ago. He's getting so good!

Diaper Free!!!

Well, at least for Evan. He has been "potty trained" for quite some time now, but was still wearing diapers at night. About a month ago, I decided to bite the bullet and put pull-ups on him over night. He didn't have a single wet Pull-up that entire time!

I was still hesitant to let him sleep in regular underpants, though, simply because I didn't want to be changing wet sheets in the morning. But about a week ago, Evan wore regular underpants to bed without me realizing it. He was dry in the morning! He's been wearing them to bed for a week now and has been dry ever since.

For me, last night was the night that made it "official", though. Evan got up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom! We've finally made it!

The Science Center

Our play group activity this week was a trip to the Science Center. It ended up being just me and the boys, though. The three of us had a really enjoyable time! The boys loved exploring all the hands-on stuff they have to do there.

When we were talking about the Science Center later, Evan said, "I love space ships and dinosaurs!!" I guess those were his favorite parts.

This is how much it would cost to send Evan to the moon ($280,000). Some days I might consider paying it! ;) Evan was VERY good at the Science Center, though.

It was really fun to spend some quality time with these little guys.

The 4th

We had a really easy-going 4th of July. We pretty much did nothing (although I did get a lot of cleaning done!). It was really nice to have a day to just chill out.

We did go out to eat for dinner, which was nice. And then, of course, we watched fireworks. They shoot the fireworks off right across the street from where we live, so we were able to sit just outside our neighborhood to watch.

Evan LOVED the fireworks. This is how Asher spent most of the firework show:

And of course, I enjoyed taking some pictures. :)

HAPPY 4TH OF JULY, EVERYONE!!!!

At the twilight's last gleaming...

The Butterfly House!

One of our local parks has a butterfly house in it. We went there on Tuesday for our play group and had a really nice time.

Evan was VERY excited to go and enjoyed looking at all the bugs and butterflies.

Asher enjoyed it, too, although I think he was a little confused about what was going on.

The butterfly house is a huge glass dome full of plants and butterflies. It's really beautiful.

There is also a big caterpillar outside for the kids to climb on. Evan enjoyed that, too!

BH 10

The only bad part about the whole trip was at the very end when I almost lost Asher.

Yes, you read that right.

I was keeping an eye on Evan playing on this caterpillar and when I glanced down at Asher, he was GONE! As I went into freak-out mode, I spotted him about 50 yards down the sidewalk just walking along, enjoying himself immensely. He's getting so FAST!

Besides that little scare, though, a good time was had by all!
