Making the car was quite the production this year. Evan didn't trust me to do the car (apparently I was the one who put the wheels on in a way that they weren't fast enough last year), which was just fine with me! Ben came home on his lunch breaks to work on the car with Evan.
The weigh-in
They got it to exactly the perfect weight at home, but on the scale at the pinewood derby, they were half an oz over weight. They had to chisel away some of the wood on the bottom of the car.

Before the races started, they announced the awards. Evan earned his wolf badge this month! Here he is pinning the mother's wolf pin on me.
Then it was time for the races!
There was lots and lots of screaming and cheering.

Asher and Ellie got into it, too.
I don't think Ellie really knew what was going on, but she had fun yelling, "Go! Go!"
The guy who was in charge of taking the cars from the finish line back to the starting line was pretty good-looking. ;)
At the end, Evan received an award for "Most Industrial" (because of the big bolt on the back of his car).
